Special Message from Concert Radio

Thursday 25 April, 2013

Dear followers,
On 3rd April 2013, your beloved Concert Radio experienced its biggest challenge ever when our website was hacked by some unscrupulous persons who found pleasure in disrupting our good works and rising profile in the Nigerian and indeed global media landscape.
The hacker hijacked our news and entertainment blog denying us access to our backend making us lose vital articles and records. However through the preparedness of our team of web managers, the hackers could not reach our streaming server and we have had uninterrupted radio transmission throughout the period we battled to have our domain back until now to the satisfaction of fans and clients.
We reclaimed our domain in 48hours with the LIVE radio link restored albeit without our regular daily news and updates. However, we are happy to inform you all teeming fans of Concert Radio and Concert Plus TV that your beloved news and entertainment blog, Top 10 Naija hits, Top video and other regulars are fully back with the full site, and other great things have happened to us while we worked to get them back on.
During this period and despite this evil attack we had the privilege of hosting representatives of the US Consulate Abuja at our station on April 11th 2013 bringing the goodwill message of the US Mission in Nigeria to Concert Radio and endorsing us as “the true model of Nigerian youths doing the job and not just talking the talk”. We also launched 2 brand new shows on Concert Radio namely ‘Iya Basira’ the lunch hour food talk show and ‘Love Doctor’ another afternoon show poised to help ailing relationships and with which we have successfully brought a divorced couple back together. Both shows are anchored by our latest Concert Radio OAP, Opeyemi a.k.a MC Ospe.
As at April 3 when the website was hacked, the Concert Radio blog had generated over 7, 847 views in February/March alone in addition to the over 60, 000 site hits, with listenership in 47 countries and we have continued to go higher.
The Concert Plus team and management wish to express our sincere gratitude to you all who stuck with us during this period and to our web management team for their prompt action and hard work. We also say thank you to all partners and clients for their calmness and belief in our assurances of delivering on all business obligations; we are glad we did not fail you.
We remain committed to our vision “to be a one-stop site consistently selling Nigeria and Africa to the world via quality entertainment content and to build the continent’s number one web based culture exchange platform”.
Thank you once again for your continued listenership, support and patronage.

US Consulate Visits Concert Radio - Media Release

Below is my media release dated 11 April 2013

Hello there,

Representatives of the US Consulate, led by the Information Officer for the US Mission in Nigeria, Deb Maclean today paid a courtesy visit to Concert Radio, affirming its rising status as Nigeria's No 1 online radio. This is a rare visit by the US Mission to a media organization and is a landmark in our efforts to position the Concert Radio brand for corporate and social relevance. The visit is sequel to series of correspondence and the mission's close monitoring of our activities and fast growing influence on the Nigerian youth.

In a one hour LIVE interview on the station anchored by Director of Content and Operation , Keni Akintoye, listeners were informed of the US Mission’ s programmes on youth empowerment.  Several callers into the show asked questions bordering on visa issues, scholarships, social media and censorship. Other issues of interest included American education, culture exchange, and political awareness.

During the one hour live chat, the Information Officer for the US Mission in Nigeria, Deb Maclean disclosed that the US Mission is particularly impressed by Concert Radio’s consistency, social media use and professionalism. The mission identifies the internet radio station as a formidable avenue to reach more youths with their activities in Nigeria. According to Keni Akintoye a PR and New Media specialist who is also the station's Communication Head, "This is the beginning of future collaborations between Concert Radio and the US Mission in Nigeria".
